Much ado in the firmament

Pluto has finally been downgraded, and we're left with only eight planets (none of them Xena).

I wonder what this will do to the highly scientific field of astrology? Because check out today's encouraging horoscopes for the Lumberjack and me:

Mine: Look forward to a good day -- finally! It might feel that you've been down for quite a while, but that won't matter at all when the right person smiles at you in the right way and al that stress dissolves.

His: You need a combination of head and heart when it comes to dating. You can't always go on analytical judgments -- you need to soften that with some kindness and understanding. Give a little.

I don't like this at all. I don't get why all of a sudden Pluto isn't a planet anymore. It orbits the sun, it has it's own satellites... this all seems a bit arbitrary to me. Now Pluto's a dwarf planet, under the umbrella definition of planet, and yet somehow it is not a planet? To whom does this make sense??? Really, I'm just kind of ticked off because when I named my dog Pluto, I thought I was naming him after the smallest planet (because he's little). Now he's just named after a dwarf planet of indistinct size.

Also, that adorable butterball hasn't been little in a long long time, babe.

Did you know that your work internerds are routed through Arizona? Interesting, Nomda.

Now come up for my housewarming, already!

Yup. HQ is in Arizona. And though a butterball, Pluto is still technically a small dog, if not tiny. Don't think I can make it for the house-warming. September is the end of the quarter, and I'm already making a trip to N. Carolina that month for a wedding. Would rather come to Boston, but...

North Carolina in September, really? I was planning on going to High Point to do some massive furniture shopping in September.

Hmm, and you need a coffee table, did you say? Their shipping rates at the factories are way cheap...

We should discuss, maybe we can coordinate something. Where is your wedding?
